6.

Motion in the name of Councillor Cieran Perry

This committee believes that 12 months is an excessive length of time for road reinstatement following works carried out by Dublin City Council or their contractors. As an example, some road repairs on Cabra Drive are outstanding since 2015 and further repairs after water mains works are outstanding since September 2016. I have been informed that these works are due to be completed by the end of 2017.

Motion in the name of Councillor Cieran Perry

Can the Manager explain why the North West Area Committee no longer gets a quarterly Planning Enforcement report?

19.

Motion in the name of Councillor Cieran Perry

Given the influx of planning applications for Student Accommodation in Dublin, this committee calls on the Planning department to prepare a policy to address the genuine concerns surrounding overconcentration of such accommodation in residential areas. While the Dublin City Development Plan 2016 -2022 does refer to overconcentration, the new policy would need to be more specific in relation to acceptable numbers of developments and bed spaces within a particular radius.

20.

Motion in the name of Councillor Andrew Keegan

This motion asks that any further housing developments on all our smaller sites in the Dublin North West Area  be 100% public housing and establish some criteria to allow access for families living in the community access to local homes. This is to avoid communities feeling short-changed as far as access to public housing.

21.

Motion in the name of Councillor Andrew Keegan

This motion asks that the Manager suspends the unworkable 30/30/40 housing ratio as it is prejudice and discriminatory to working families in our community. This policy is tantamount to social cleansing and indicates that in some way that all families seeking public housing are in some way nefarious and antisocial.  If we were talking about coloured or ethnic diverse communities this policy would be considered racist.  As it stands it is pro-market and anti-community.

22.

Motion in the name of Councillor Andrew Keegan

This motion proposes that Dublin City Council Management be mandated to request the Minister of the Environment to increase the economic threshold baring working families from accessing public housing. Households with income up to 80,000 net should be considered eligible to access public housing.

Motion in the name of Councillor Paul McAuliffe

The North West Area Committee call on the council to initiate the closure of the laneway/extinguish the right of way of the lane adjacent to 40 Glasnevin Park, 42 Glasnevin Park, 113 Glasnevin Avenue, 115 Glasnevin Avenue

26.

Motion in the name of Councillor Edel Moran, North Central

To ask the Manager to examine the footpaths on Shanowen Road they are in bad condition

27.

Motion in the name of Councillor Andrew Montague

That the Council establish the ownership of George’s Graveyard on Whitworth Road (behind National Council for the Blind), with a view to re-opening the graveyard to the public.

28.

Motion in the name of Councillor Andrew Montague

That the Council install a footpath along the green at the entrance to Lorcan Road. This would be the natural route for residents coming from Magenta Hall and Lorcan Drive. See photo

29.

Motion in the name of Councillor Andrew Montague

That the Council starts the process to acquire 8 and 10 Ferguson Road. These houses have been derelict and empty for many years. By purchasing these homes we can improve the amenity of the entire street, and provide much needed housing.

30.

Motion in the name of Councillor Noeleen Reilly

That the Manager looks at measures to prevent parking from DCU in Shanowen Park as often there is nowhere for the residents to park.

31.

Motion in the name of Councillor Noeleen Reilly

That this area committee expresses concerns with the FAI about the cessation of the Project FUTSAL programme for Ballymun/Finglas area and writes to the FAI asking them to reconsider this decision.   The programme was set up to take on participants that were unemployed and out of education.  Over the last 4 years there have been 87 participants who have coached 1,370 children
