Order: Agreed.
Motion 2 from Councillor Dermot Lacey This committee requests the Chief Executive to arrange a decision makers meeting with representatives of the City of Dublin Education and Training Board, Dublin City Council and relevant Government Departments to provide for use by Rathmines College of State owned properties nearby (to Rathmines College) and serious commencement of a programme of works to restore the Rathmines Town Hall, Concert Hall. Order: Report to Councillor.
Motion 3 from Councillor Punam Rane To ask the chief executive to provide an update on the redevelopment plans for Terenure Library. Given the significant impact and value this project will bring to the residents of Terenure, can the council outline the current status, the expected timeline for progression, the funding allocation, and the anticipated start date for the construction of this project. Order: Report to Councillor.
Motion 4 from Councillor Pat Dunne With regard to a continuous parking problem adjacent to the green semi-circle on Sundrive Road I am seeking 3.5t signs to be erected on both sides of the green space If they are required for enforcement. I am also asking that 2 individual car space markings be introduced along this stretch of Sundrive Road. In addition can DCC and AGS help in the enforcement of the parking laws in this location. Order: Agreed.
Motion 5 from Councillor Fiona Connelly and Dermot Lacey In order to work collaboratively with the community, local residents groups, and coffee shop licensees we would like to propose that DCC establish a Friends of Palmerston Park group for local stakeholders.
The group would work to implement the recommendations of the Howley Hayes report to improve the appearance of the park and ensure the park is maintained to the highest possible standard.
This group would also work towards achieving a green flag parks standard that has been achieved by other DCC parks in the South East Area. Order: Report to Councillor. Executive requested to establish a Friends of Palmerston Park Group.
Motion 6 from Councillor Pat Dunne This area committee notes that the site of the former Hub Public House and outbuildings in Crumlin Village are in a state of decay and are a blight on the otherwise well maintained village.
We call on our Derelict Site Section to inspect the site and to request the owners to either use the planning permission they have and or immediately tend to the exterior so as to make it look neat. Order: Noted.
Motion 7 from Councillor Noelle Brown That this area Committee agrees to work with the local residents to find solutions to the ongoing parking issues at Windmill Road Crumlin. |

(Details Supplied – 2 PDF Documents).
Q.4 Councillor Dermot Lacey To ask the Manager if he will arrange for action as requested in the email submitted with this question and have the identified property included on the relevant Derelict Sites Register. (Details Supplied)
Hi Dermot,
Thanks for passing on your mail address. I now attach 2 pictures of the rear of (details supplied) which I forwarded to the derelict buildings section of Dublin City Council earlier this year.
As you probably know, a derelict site notice was posted by the Council to the front of (details supplied), last year. It was subsequently removed by the council (In my view prematurely) after cosmetic works were carried out to the front of the building. However nothing has been done to the interior or the rear of the property. The house has continued to remain vacant now for in excess of 5 years and is in very poor general condition. Apart from some squatters who temporarily moved it about 2 years ago the premises has remained unoccupied and uncared for.
Both the occupants on either side of (details supplied) have reported the sighting of rats in their rear gardens. Even though I live across the road from (details supplied), I personally had to remove a dead rat from my own garden late last year. It is the belief of myself and my neighbours that these vermin are now well settled in the grossly overgrown garden described by the attached photos.
I queried with Ms. Devlin as to why the council had taken down the above referred notice. She referred to an inspection that had occurred shortly after a tidy up of the front garden had taken place. I made the point to her that such inspection was clearly incomplete. Her response was to the effect that the inspector was not entitled to enter onto the property for the purpose of carrying out a more thorough inspection. Given the fact that is possible to observe the appalling state of the rear of the building and the rear garden that has grown to the height of the surrounding 6 foot walls simply by placing a domestic ladder against the rear wall which faces into Herbert Park and is easily ... view the full minutes text for item 9. |
