To ask the Chief Executive to conduct a review of the requirement of installation of outlets in the areas of Kimmage-Rathmines for charging electric cars, particularly in areas where residents cannot install them themselves. The growing need for eco-friendly charging stations makes this essential for promoting environmental sustainability. Order: Report to Councillor Rubbish is causing significant problems at the Harold’s' Cross Bridge junction. There is an issue with bags being left for collection outside the shops at the bridge. These bags are regularly ripped and rubbish strewn around the junction causing danger for road users. Can we prioritise this issue to prevent an accident occurring due to bags of rubbish being blown out into the traffic? Can we support DCC staff to inspect the rubbish being left out to deter illegal dumping? Order: Report to Councillor Following on from a motion agreed by this committee in May 2024, this area committee calls on the manager to arrange a meeting to include parks officials, the Marianella Owners Management CLG, Cairn developers and local councillors with a view to resolving any outstanding issues which are preventing DCC from taking in charge the public park at Marianella, Orwell Road, in line with the planning condition imposed on the Development by Dublin City Council. Order: Report to Councillor This council supports the much needed installation of communication boards in our playgrounds. We propose the installation of communication boards in playgrounds to support children who are neurodiverse, non-verbal or have speech difficulties. This aims to foster the common goal of inclusivity, enhanced communication and to ensure that all children can fully participate.
Playgrounds are vital for all children to develop and socialise. We must ensure that as a council we are giving children of all abilities the chance to do so. Installing communication boards will enable other children ... view the full minutes text for item 7. |

Questions to the Chief Executive 13.01.25 Additional documents: Minutes: Q.1 To ask the Manager if he will ensure a response to this issue of non-street cleaning before this question is reached for reply.
“Hi Dermot I accept that there is a shortage of staff but yesterday a few men spent hours clearing the leaves from the corner of Raglan Road and I asked them if they were going to do Pembroke Road as well. Unfortunately they didn't. I have logged a street cleaning request online - twice. I have called up DCC and logged the same in person, but nothing happens.
Is there nothing that can be done to get my street cleaned - it hasn't been done in weeks, possibly months, and it's supposed to be cleaned every day. It definitely hasn't been cleaned since the start of the autumn rugby internationals and that was six weeks ago. It's simply not acceptable to make the residents of Pembroke Road live with this level of filth.
Anything more you can do would be greatly appreciated.” : Waste Management Services had leaves cleared from Pembroke Road on at least three different occasions during December 2024 and will include it as often as possible during our autumn and winter leaves removal programme. We will ensure that this area is cleaned when scheduled for same.
Q.2 To ask the manager if this Lamp post at Warrington Place be repaired - It is a broken door on the ornamental lamppost along the Canal at Warrington Place. : An inspection has been carried out on the lamppost at Warrington Place and the door needs repairing. It is scheduled for repair in the coming week.
Q.3 To ask the Manager if he has any update on plans for the former Merrion Railway Station and in particular to respond to the questions contained in the email submitted with this question.
“This time last year, your colleagues in the Dangerous Buildings Section did an excellent job in totally securing the roof slates, which were in a very bad way at the time (as the roof joists were then unfortunately exposed to the elements).
I also appreciate all the further work that all of you then did in arranging for financing to turn this historic building into an artists' centre, and arranging the very generous financing for this project.
This is all great progress, and I would welcome any updates when you and your colleagues can arrange more steps towards this project of restoring the Station as an artists' centre.
Meanwhile, it is great to have the building structurally secured in this way, but it would be good to progress this project when possible, as it is still a bit vulnerable currently to possible break-ins and vandalism (and possible fire damage etc.)” : The City Arts Officer viewed this building as to its suitability for Arts use in conjunction with a QS to ascertain cost. Although it would as a building make a great gallery studio ... view the full minutes text for item 8. |
