MOTIONS |
(1) Motion in the name of Cllr. Declan Flanagan
That this North Central Area Committee be advised of the timeframe for the publication of the public consultation report on the Gracefield Road to Vernon Avenue Walking and Cycling Scheme and the timeframe for when the Active Travel Programme Office will directly engage, face to face, with local residents.
(2) Motion in the name of Cllr. Declan Flanagan
That this North Central Area Committee notes the disappointment of stakeholders that the Active Travel Programme Office has failed to comply with the commitment given at the November 2023 Area Meeting, that it would in early 2024 “directly engage, face to face, with representatives of local residents during the detailed design stage to seek to address concerns” in respect of the proposed Gracefield Road to Vernon Avenue Walking and Cycling Scheme and therefore calls for next month’s publication of the revised designs to be postponed until there is meaningful engagement with residents.
(3) Motion in the names of Cllrs. Councillors Donna Cooney, Declan Flanagan, Dearbhail Butler, Rachel Batten, John Lyons, Catherine Stocker, Terence Flanagan and Cllr. Alison Gilliland
That this North Central Area Committee will continue to support Artane Beaumont Family Resource Centre to remain viable as a much valued and needed resource in the community.
(4) Motion in the name of Cllr. John Lyons
That this North Central Area Committee recognises the lack of available community facilities and spaces in the Coolock area and is acutely aware of not only the number of groups at present struggling to secure adequate premises, but also acknowledges the potential opportunities lost through this lack of investment. This Area Committee believes that a new community centre for the Coolock area is urgently needed; therefore, we call on the executive to commit the requisite capital funding for such a new facility and to work with local public and community representatives and other stakeholders to identify and secure the best location for same.
(5) Motion in the name of Cllr. Alison Gilliland
That this North Central Area Committee agrees to place a bench with an “In Memory of Austin McCoy” plaque in the East Pocket Park and a bench with an “In Memory of Mike Freeney” plaque in the West Pocket Park in the currently under construction Oscar Traynor Woods, to recognise the immense contributions of both men to the local area and its development: Austin McCoy was long term community leader and chairperson of the Lorcan Residents' Association, an advocate for the rights of our more senior citizens and a broadcaster on local radio, Near FM. Austin was particularly involved in the Oscar Traynor Consultative Forum guiding the development of the now commenced Oscar Traynor Woods. Mike Freeney was the main architect of the Oscar Traynor Woods development.

(6) Motion in the name of Cllr. Deirdre Heney
That this North Central Area Committee calls on the manager to arrange to fill in the large dips in the “beach road” at Dollymount where puddles form, (see picture attached) making it dangerous for vulnerable pedestrians as well as making it difficult for people to access the carpark; now that spring tides have passed and we are coming into the summer, matters need to be rectified; the last time this happened (a few years ago), a ministerial order was requested to move beach material from the beach to the sand road. This needs to be done again and ideally mats to be placed over sections to reduce the sand movement and enable people to drive down to use the beach, including water sports enthusiasts and in particular, vulnerable beach users.
(7) Motion in the name of Cllr. Deirdre Heney
That this North Central Area Committee calls on the manager to give a detailed report on the reinstatement of the old green railings that front Fairview Park and say when same will be fully reinstated.
(8) Motion in the name of Cllr. Damian O'Farrell
That this North Central Area Committee agrees that Dublin City Council have an assessment of the damage to the crown of the Realt Na Mara statue, Bull Wall undertaken without delay with a view to having it repaired in situ or removed for repair as soon as possible, but before the end of August at the latest.
(9) Motion in the name of Cllr. Damian O'Farrell
That this North Central Area Committee thanks all the staff of Dublin City Council who I have worked with over the past 15 years. There is an incredible work ethic and duty to our city present among the many council staff who I have worked with over the years and I want to thank them & wish them all the best.
(10) Motion in the name of Cllr. Naoise O'Muiri That this Area Committee requests an urgent 3rd-party safety audit of the School Zone that has been implemented outside Drumcondra National School
(11) Motion in the name of Cllr. Naoise O'Muiri That this Area Committee supports the development of a new street furniture licensing regime for the area outside of the canals with commensurate charges reflecting the reality of suburban footfall |
(12) Motion in the name of Cllr. Naoise O'Muiri That this Area Committee supports the concept of a “round table” discussion between local club representatives and Dublin City Council officials this August/September to build a partnership approach with a view to resolving pitch playability and drainage issues in St. Anne's Park.
